Editors Note: Tara will be speaking and presenting at Paleo f(x) this upcoming weekend. On April 11th, from 10:00am-10:25am, she will be giving doing a magic dough recipe cooking demo. On April 13th, from 3:35pm-4:40pm she will be speaking at the Journey of Transformation session. You can purchase a pass to watch the Live Stream by clicking this link or, if you’re in the area, purchase passes to Paleo f(x) by clicking this link.   From Sarah: As my usual late night binge of working on responding to PrimalGirl emails wound down on Thursday last week, I texted Tara with a run down of what I did.  She didn’t respond for a while, which was strange, since usually she’s lighting quick. I had just started to get concerned when an image appeared…. I couldn’t believe it! There with Patricia Heaton, Reese Witherspoon, & Emma Thompson was my friend, confidant, and boss proudly declaring 112 pounds lost from a clean Primal/Paleo diet.  While I was instinctively proud of her and immediately called her so we could squeal like teenagers on the phone I also had a personal reaction that I wanted to share with all of you. I wanted to tell all … Continue reading

Five Free Copies of “The Hidden Plague For Your Story

the-hidden-plague-cover320

Just in time for the holidays, Tara would like to offer Primal Girl readers a very special opportunity, and has organized a giveaway for five free copies of her latest book, “The Hidden Plague.” What is the book about? “Have you been plagued with boils, cysts, ingrown hairs, and acne-like bumps that take months to resolve, leave embarrassing scars, and cause considerable pain? Have you been to the doctor, only to leave with a prescription for antibiotics, few answers, and little to no hope? Hidradenitis supprativa (HS) is a poorly understood skin condition that is believed to affect nearly twelve million people in the United States alone. Only a small fraction of those affected have been properly diagnosed, leaving many others to suffer in silence or pursue ill-advised conventional treatment methods that fail to address the cause of this painful condition.” “The Hidden Plague” addresses all of these issues and more. It sets readers on the path towards healing their guts, helping alleviate the discomfort caused by skin issues, and showing them how to reclaim their health. How do I enter this contest? We all have a story. Tell us yours.  Tell us why you need this book. Tell us how it … Continue reading

Primalgirl Reads: Paleo Fitness by Darryl Edwards

Paleo_Fitness

I had the pleasure of meeting Darryl Edwards at PaleoFX last year. I was very impressed with his enthusiasm and love for Primal movement. Darryl made a huge impression on me. He was so motivated to help other people that he offered free workshops at PaleoFX without being compensated. (Click here to see the fun I had — the only fun I had — at PaleoFX last year.) Darryl also flew all the way from England to hold free workshops at PrimalCon Austin this year. He was such a hit that rumor has it he’ll be attending both PrimalCon events next year as a presenter. A short video from my friend Bryan Barksdale sums it up pretty nicely: Darryl loves to share information with others, as you can tell from his website and his YouTube channel. That’s why I was so pleased to receive a copy of his new book, Paleo Fitness, a few weeks ago. It was just as I hoped it would be: jam packed full of great information to help anyone get out of a chronic-cardio, globo-gym mindset and back into the fun, carefree way we used to play when we were kids. Each exercise is carefully … Continue reading

Primalgirl Reads: The Primal Connection by Mark Sisson

The Primal Connection by Mark Sisson

I was thrilled to recieve my advance copy of Mark Sisson’s latest book in The Primal Blueprint series, The Primal Connection: Follow Your Genetic Blueprint to Health and Happiness, last week for several reasons. First (and foremost), I was interested in seeing how Mark interpreted a topic that should resonate with us all at our core. Second, I was curious to see how the book was laid out, seeing as I’m writing a very similar book myself. (Thankfully, Mark has covered the bigger topics I haven’t, and my book may end up being a great companion to this one.) Third, I was excited for people to actually read this book and start making changes in their lives — changes that would make it easier for me to interact with them, to connect on a deeper level and to form tribes based on shared human experiences instead of the latest model of a designer purse or the shared love of Nikon cameras. Why I Need This Book I’ve been feeling majorly disconnected from modern society for about four years now — about the same length of time that I’ve been Primal. I’ve lost touch with many friends, as I no longer … Continue reading

Primalgirl Talks: Robb Wolf at the AHS

Robb Wolf and I at the AHS

I recently sat down with Robb Wolf at the Ancestral Health Symposium in Los Angeles and asked him a few questions. Although I was extremely nervous to be in the presence of greatness, Robb is very easy to talk to – and since he talks a lot for a living, he mostly carried the conversation. Click here or on the picture below to watch the interview. We discuss the future of the Paleo movement, it’s evolution, probiotics, gluten intolerance, auto-immune disease and what Robb Wolf has coming up next. Robb mentions a couple things in the interview that deserve a follow-up, such as the Paleo Physician’s Network. If you’re looking for a great Paleo-friendly doctor who won’t cringe at the words “saturated fat,” make sure you check it out. I only wish I had done this before I went to the hospital the other week. Also, he mentions that most of the material in his book The Paleo Solution can be found for free on his website. I highly suggest taking advantage of this. You can find it here. If you want the entire book instead, The Paleo Solution is now a best-seller. Check it out on Amazon: The Paleo Solution: The Original … Continue reading

Paleo Goes Mainstream: CBS News Reports

Part One: Caveman Diet Trend Starting To Catch Fire

You may have seen the recent reports on CBS San Francisco about the Paleo movement. Dr. Kim Mulvihill did a fantastic job at covering the topic. In fact, she was the only mainstream press at the recent Ancestral Health Symposium in LA and took part in Dr. Lynda Frassetto‘s scientific study on the Paleo diet herself. Perhaps I’m a little biased, as I’m in the series, but I think that any publicity is good publicity for us! Below you’ll find links to the five videos in the series, just click on the images. … Continue reading
